Think of Yoga Teacher Amy Baker as a guide to your true potential. She challenges you to get out of your head, out of the negative inner dialogue and the drama, and asks you to dive deep within the body to help clear away the cobwebs that no longer serve you. She uses postures, breath work and a strong connection to the core to create new space for happiness, empowerment and the true self, whomever you want that to be.
Amy feels that yoga doesn’t have to be serious to experience its effects, so she injects her classes with humor, music and revealing life anecdotes. She likes to remind her students that yoga is about much more than making your butt look great, although a beautiful, strong body is an undeniable extra bonus of Amy’s classes. When taken off the mat, yoga can make the balancing acts of life effortless, she says. Whether it’s dealing with the stress of work or being a new mother, like Amy, yoga keeps you grounded, calm and in control.
Amy has had an academic relationship with the body for many years. She earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and has been certified by the American College of Sports Medicine for ten years. Attracted to her direct approach to yoga, Amy studied with Ana Forrest and continues to deepen her personal practice with a constant flow of yoga education. Recently, Amy has sparked her inner fire studying with teachers Janet Stone, Brock and Krista Cahill, Christina Sell and Darren Rhodes. But Amy’s most influential teacher to date is her newborn baby, Tula, who gifts Amy with a life lesson each and every day.
