DOGMA ATHLETICA YOGA PROGRAM

Class Descriptions

Intro to Anusara Yoga / Intro to Dogma Yoga - Intro to Yoga is a gentle beginner class; sessions are relaxed and user friendly. They are designed to give students a foundation in yogic breathing, stretching and strengthening.

Dogma Yoga - Drawing from our favorite teachings and different yoga disciplines, we have created a class that combines strength, flexibility, accessible instructions and compassionate teaching to take you on an intense physical and mental journey.

Anusara Yoga - Anusara classes blend a spiritual context to awaken and celebrate the heart with the Universal Principles of Alignment, which bring the body towards its optimal muscular, skeletal, and energetic blueprint.

Power Yoga - Power Yoga is a vigorous flow practice synchronizing breath with movement through a series of postures, beginning with sun salutations to build internal heat. This class will include variations of standing balances, inversions, backbends and other more challenging poses. Although this is a physically demanding class, the student is encouraged to work at their own pace and within their own abilities. Result: A stronger, leaner, more flexible body, an increase in energy and endurance and an overall improvement in mental, physical and spiritual health.

Lunch Hour Yoga - Get your yoga fix on your lunch hour. Classes will include, stretching, strengthening and have a strong emphasis on alignment. Designed to help you enjoy your yoga on even the busiest days.

Forrest Yoga - The Forrest Yoga method gets you connected to your core - getting strong and centered. We use a little heat (80 degrees), breath, and vigorous sequences to sweat out toxins while the long holds in the pose progressions help you flush, rejuvenate and oxygenate every cell in your body. Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires that you bring a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. As you advance in Forrest Yoga, step-by-step, you learn to intelligently ride your breath into the exhilarating advanced poses.

Teacher and Advanced Student Practice - This 2 hour practice is designed specifically for teachers and advanced practitioners to explore a more intense practice in an open environment. Teachers will share their knowledge of different forms of yoga and we will "rock out" for 2 hours. (You must be able to kick up into handstand and perform full wheel on your own to attend).

Private Instruction - Our instructors are available for private lessons. A private yoga lesson is 1 - 2 hours and may be experienced in your home or here at Dogma Athletica. A private yoga lesson is a wonderful opportunity to more deeply explore and translate the language of your own physical body. Tension, pain, weakness, strength, ease and pleasure are the words of the body. Specific areas of the body and how the energy is stored in these areas directly reflect your experiences and how you relate to them now. By allowing the body to communicate, as we consciously observe the landscape of your body in action, you can identify how to approach your present situations in a new manner. Recognizing and releasing old, debilitating patterns opens up your life to new opportunities to improve how you feel physically, as well as mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

(Starting January 1st) Living Your Yoga - Discussion and asana practice that will explore the rich and vast resources of yoga. Topics will include: Exploring asana as a metaphor for life, taking the wisdom from practice into everyday life.
